SafeContractor Approved
East Coast Controls has achieved SafeContractor accreditation, independent confirmation that our health and safety policies, procedures and people meet the rigorous standards expected by the UK's leading organisations.

What SafeContractor accreditation means
Choosing a contractor to work on your building's energy management system means letting a team into plant rooms, control panels and occupied spaces. You need to know they will work safely, competently and within the law.

SafeContractor is one of the UK's leading contractor certification schemes and a member of the Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) forum. Contractors are independently vetted on their health and safety arrangements, policies, qualifications and track record before they can be certified.

Hundreds of major organisations, from SMEs to FTSE 100 companies, recognise the scheme and accept the SafeContractor certificate as confirmation of competency in health and safety practice. Many will only engage contractors who hold it.
What we were assesed on:
-
Health and safety policy and management
-
Risk assessments and method statements
-
Staff training, qualifications and competence
-
Insurance and legal compliance
-
Accident reporting and safety track record
The benefits of using a SafeContractor accredited BMS contractor
Whether you manage a single site or a national estate, appointing an accredited contractor protects your people, your building and your organisation.
1
Peace of mind
Our safety standards have been independently checked, so you can be confident we are a safe company to have working in your building.
2
Reduced procurement burden
Accreditation replaces much of the lengthy pre-qualification paperwork, saving your procurement and facilities teams time when appointing us.
3
Supports your compliance
Using a vetted contractor helps you meet your own duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act and CDM Regulations when managing contractors.
4
Lower risk on site
Documented risk assessments, method statements and trained engineers mean fewer incidents, fewer delays and less disruption to your building users.
5
Recognised by major clients
SafeContractor is accepted by leading organisations across property, facilities management, retail, leisure, public services and more.
6
Continuous improvement
Accreditation is reviewed regularly, so our commitment to health, safety and ethical working is maintained year after year, not just once.
Why it matters for building management systems
BMS work carries its own risks. Our engineers regularly work in live environments, from busy museums and broadcast centres to stadiums and heritage sites, where safety and continuity are critical.
Live electrical work
Safe isolation procedures when working on control panels, variable speed drives and field wiring.
Plant room access
Controlled working around boilers, chillers, air handling units and rotating equipment.
Working at height
Planned access for sensors, actuators and devices in ceilings, risers and roof plant.
Occupied buildings
Careful planning to keep staff, visitors and the public safe while systems stay running.
Commissioning and handover
Structured, documented processes so systems are handed over safely and fully tested.
Ongoing maintenance
The same accredited standards applied on every service visit across the life of your system.
